Class 1: 6:40 - 7:30 PM. West Coast
Swing from Scratch (You'll learn the six basic patterns with
good technique) If you like rhythm & blues, blues, and cotemporary
music then this dance is for you.
Class 2:
7:30 -
8:20 PM. Beginners
Continuing West Coast Swing (must
know the basics)
Topics: followers
turns, stretch connection, variations on basics, refining the
basics.
Practice Session:
8:20 - 8:35 PM
Free
Class 3: 8:35 - 9:30 PM.
Intermediate/Advance West Coast Swing. You'll learn what's
current nationally. Felix Hernandez will be teaching with me
as a follower. This will be fun!
Dance/Practice Session: 9:30 - 10:30
PM $2.00
Steve Ryan is a
professional dancer who has been dancing for more than 25 years,
and has won numerous dance competitions throughout that time in
jazz, theatre arts, hustle & west coast swing. He is an advanced
level dancer on the national swing circuit. He also danced a
feature role in the Sleeping Beauty Ballet in February 2005.
He has choreographed many swing dance routines that were performed
by class members at local dances and at the Syracuse Symphony. He
training in Los Angeles with national champions in 2003. He’s a firm
believer in strong technique. He also just finished a teaching tour
in New Zealand
and Australia in 2007. He recently won the Syracuse edition of
Dancing with The Stars in 2010. Steve is currently on staff of the
faculty at Syracuse University where he teaches swing dance for the
Department of Exercise Science

West Coast Swing Musicality, Hitting the breaks, resolution/tonic
note, and accent (must
know the basics)

take move's variations and learn how to shape them to different
types of music.
